Weanling Boost
Weanling Boost is a highly nutritious concentrate coarse feed which is highly Digestible as it contains cooked Peas, Barley and Maize, developed for creep feeding weanlings from 3 months of age onwards. An extremely good growth Rate can be expected, as Full Fat Soya and Hi Pro Soya are highly responsive in terms of quality protein. The palatability of Weanling Boost is very good due to the type of ingredients used like Flaked Maize and cooked cereals. Feeding a product like this will help reduce stress at weaning, and will have better condition and bloom on the weanling for sale, which is highly desired, especially for the export market. Weanlings have a very good food conversion rate of 3: 1, thus it is very economical to feed weanlings, in terms of return on investment.
Weanling Nuts
For weanlings 3 months of age upwards, a 16% protein is ideal when the animals are on a good supply of high quality summer grass. The Weanling Nut contains a high quality Mineral and Vitamin package that’s essential for good growth and skeleton development. Weanling Nut is formulated from the highest quality cereals and protein sources and offers a high Digestible Fibre content which is essential for proper stomach development and functionality, especially when weanlings are on lush soft aftergrass.
Heifer Rearer Nuts
The feeding and management of replacement heifers will have a lifelong effect on their productivity. Correct levels of dietary protein and energy are important to optimise heifer growth. During the growing period it is important to avoid the over-conditioning of heifers which can lead to excessive fat-deposition in mammary glands and reduce milk yield in later life. Based on this scientific research Southern Milling have formulated a specialised heifer feed.
- Specially formulated feed for replacement dairy heifers
- 20% protein nut with Hi pro Soya to promote growth and avoid over conditioning
- Optimum levels of phosphorus & calcium ensuring good bone development
- High maize inclusion to ensure replacement heifers meet target weights for breeding
- Contains high levels of protected minerals & vitamins to maximise heifer’s health
- NOVATAN included to improve the use of protein in the diet and improve the FCE of the cow
Late Lactation Feeding 2020
Autumn grass has a lower energy value (lower sugar content) compared to spring/summer grass even through it can look very leafy and green. The response to ration in terms of milk yield is better in the autumn than at any other time of the year.
Low milk lactose levels can be an indication of not enough energy in the cows diet caused by low intake of wet, low-sugar, autumn grass.
With the above mentioned in mind, We at Southern Milling are promoting our Lacto 16 Dairy Nut.
