History
Southern Milling can trace its origins back to 1880 when Edwin Hall traded in animal feedstuffs in Cork City. William James Heaslip and R.F. Mack took over from Edwin Hall and began trading under Macks name. By 1925 Mack had sold out his share of the business to Heaslip and Sons LTD. In 1966, W.J. Heaslip merged with a milling company called T.E. Jacob and Co. Ltd to form Southern Mills Ltd.
By the early 1980’s Southern Mills ran the only mills in Cork city. In 1983 Southern Milling Ltd formed a partnership with Bandon Co-op, Cappoqiun Chickens and Arkady Grain. At this stage it was bought its marina site in Cork Port where current operations take place. The business as conducted in the early years of this century bears little resemblance to the sophisticated operation which serve today’s customers.

Late Lactation Feeding 2020
Autumn grass has a lower energy value (lower sugar content) compared to spring/summer grass even through it can look very leafy and green. The response to ration in terms of milk yield is better in the autumn than at any other time of the year.
Low milk lactose levels can be an indication of not enough energy in the cows diet caused by low intake of wet, low-sugar, autumn grass.
With the above mentioned in mind, We at Southern Milling are promoting our Lacto 16 Dairy Nut.
